Borno state hit by Cholera outbreak

According to the reports gathered by the United Nations, cholera is rapidly spreading through the Internally Displaced Persons Camps where victims of Boko Haram attack are kept and cared for in north-eastern Nigeria.

 In a report released by UN, suspected cholera cases of not less than 530 have been registered in the IDP camps in Borno state, which triple the the figure announce some 5 days ago and 20 lives  have been reportedly lost as a result of cholera.

 In the month of August, the  sum of $10.5m (£8m) was allocated by the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund, which is managed by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, for life-saving assistance to the most vulnerable. Going by records, close to two million people have been internally  displaced as a result of the conflict between Boko Haram militants and government forces.
